The Porchlight Band came together as the "house band" for the film The Porchlight Sessions. Initially conceived as a character in the film, these performances now represent the pure musicality and instrumental dexterity of bluegrass musicians. This all-star gathering came together to film on Bill Monroe's porch outside of Nashville on a hot and humid summer night in August 2011. The memory lives on of the many insects flying around the lights we set to illuminate the performance and to emulate the "porch light".
